New illustrations in the Moomin Museum!

The Moomin Museum's paper-based works of Tove Jansson are sensitive to light, and after a few years on display, they need to rest in the dark. Moomin House - our pride and joy

On the lower level of the museum, you’ll find our centrepiece exhibit: a five-storey, over two-metre-tall tableaux of the Moomin House. The enchantingly detailed model was crafted by Tuulikki Pietilä, Dr Pentti Eistola, and Tove Jansson, taking them three years to build. It was unveiled at the Bratislava Biennial of Illustration in 1979, after which it toured the Nordic countries. Today it is a permanent exhibit that can be seen only at the Moomin Museum.
