Christmas programme
We all know that Moomins don’t celebrate Christmas—they hibernate through the winter with their bellies full of fir tree needles. However, in Tove Jansson short story The Fir Tree, the Moomin family suddenly finds themselves in the midst of a strange and wonderful Christmas frenzy! Come and listen to the story on Sundays at 3pm. In the museum's Studio you can create stunning Christmas tree decorations!
New!
New illustrations in the Moomin Museum!
The Moomin Museum's paper-based works of Tove Jansson are sensitive to light, and after a few years on display, they need to rest in the dark. The artworks in the Moomin exhibition were changed in September, and now a completely new selection of Tove Jansson’s delicate and detailed Moomin illustrations is on display. Come and have fun!

Moomin House - our pride and joy
On the lower level of the museum, you’ll find our centrepiece exhibit: a five-storey, over two-metre-tall tableaux of the Moomin House. The enchantingly detailed model was crafted by Tuulikki Pietilä, Dr Pentti Eistola, and Tove Jansson, taking them three years to build. It was unveiled at the Bratislava Biennial of Illustration in 1979, after which it toured the Nordic countries. Today it is a permanent exhibit that can be seen only at the Moomin Museum.
