18.8.2023 The world’s only Moomin Museum has been recognized by Tripadvisor as a 2023 Travellers’ Choice award winner for the Speciality Museums category. The award-winning destination consistently receives excellent reviews from travellers on the Tripadvisor platform. Winners are ranked among the top 10% of all listings on Tripadvisor worldwide.

5.6.2023 The Moomin Museum organizes events in honor of Manse Pride Week, both at the museum and at the Saturday celebration in Sorsapuisto Park. At the museum, selected excerpts from the letters Tove Jansson wrote to her friends and loved ones are read daily (in Finnish). In the Studio’s workshop, participants immerse themselves in floral vibes with a rainbow spirit. On Saturday, June 17th, the museum's Art Carts will set up a workshop in Sorsapuisto Park, among the Pride celebration crowd.

26.4.2023 Merry Tumpkin and his endearing friends are the stars of the Moomin Museum’s new temporary exhibition, Tumpkin’s Time. It is based on the beloved nursery rhymes authored by the Finnish poet Kirsi Kunnas (1924–2021), who transports the reader to magical worlds of play and imagination. Originally produced by the Päivälehti Museum, the Moomin Museum presents the exhibition in the author’s hometown, featuring delightful original illustrations.

17.2.2023 In Tove Jansson’s book Moominland Midwinter, the creatures of forest light a giant bonfire to make the darkness go away and to welcome the sun back to the sky. As the creatures beat their drums and lose themselves in a wild frenzy of dance and revelry, their tufted, tailed and horned forms cast swaying, swirling shadows in the snow.

9.11.2022 Art historian Selma Green (M.A.) has been appointed Museum Director of the Tampere Art Museum and Moomin Museum. She will assume her duties as the new Museum Director on 1 January 2023.

3.11.2022 The Moomin Museum takes pleasure in hosting the Finnish-American illustrator Tilda Rose as its resident guest artist in Tampere this November. During her residency, Rose will work in the Moomin Museum’s Studio and reside on the grounds of Haihara Manor. Now organised for the second time, the residency is intended for professional illustrators and organised jointly by the Moomin Museum and the Finnish Illustration Association.
