Light in the darkness! – Autumn holidays programme

Moominvalley is home to more than just our friends the Moomins, for at dusk those mysterious and unreal ones creep out of their nooks and crannies. During the autumn holidays, these extremely rare bugs have hidden their secrets in the museum, secrets that can only be revealed with a magic light… Come and discover the wondrous secrets! The secrets you find are not just for the little ones in the Moomin books, but for all of us!

Although the main characters in Tove Jansson’s Moomin books are usually a family of Moomins and their friends, there are also little creatures in every book, telling something very important and essential to Moomin stories. Sometimes the characters are an essential part of the story, but usually they just lurk in the pages, and even in the illustrations you only notice them on closer inspection.

The journey continues to the museum’s Studio, where the most shy, timid and mysterious celebrate in a dimly lit tent. In the magical workshop at the Studio, everyone can paint their own small and mysterious or fluffy and luminous or even squishy and crotchety creature. The characters, which look a little pale on paper, come miraculously to life in the magical light of the tent! So join the party and make your own glow-in-the-dark creature!

Mysterious and exciting…

The autumn holidays programme 12 – 20 October (Monday 14 the museum is closed). The Studio is open all day during the holidays.
