Open workshops in the Studio

Be inspired by Tove and her art. Join us for some crafting at the Moomin Museum Studio!

Discover your inner artist by taking part in one of our workshops, which offer a fun, easy way of experimenting with new crafting ideas. Drop in any time during your museum visit – the workshops run non-stop from noon to 4pm. Our instructors are always on hand to inspire, advise, and help you get started, but you’re free to work on your own at your own pace. The themes vary regularly, ranging from handicrafts to community art projects. Join in and get hooked on crafting – adults welcome too!

  • This fall, the Decorative Letters workshop is on the agenda. The Studio’s drawing workshop invites participants to dive into storytelling by designing a large initial letter. An initial (or anfang) is a decorative, large initial letter at the beginning of a book chapter. Tove Jansson used initials that combined Moomin characters and large letters. In this workshop, participants will explore the combination of image and text through lettering, typography, and graphic design. The purpose of an initial is to enhance the visual appeal of the text and to draw readers deeper into the story.
  • Christmas time starts Saturday 30 November in the Studio!

The Moomin Museum Studio is open daily from noon to 4pm. Admission is free of charge to all museum visitors.

N.B.! The Studio is occasionally closed for private bookings.

You can combine a workshop with a guided tour of the museum. Check out our workshop themes here.
